Project completed in 2024.
The problem: The City of LaPorte needed to separate their storm sewer from their sanitary sewer on the south side of town to reduce the number of sewer backup events in the area. The City also had an old and failing water main that was prone to breaking on “I” Street. The project needed to be broken up into phases to allow local home owners access to their property while construction was being done.
The solution/work performed: HRP constructed 3,050 feet of water main to replace the existing cast water main, installed 4,500 feet of storm pipe that started in our first phase of construction and ran through 13 blocks of City streets that were constructed in five phases.
What made this project interesting: Working with an owner to work through unforeseen utility issues that could have slowed down this project, but with good coordination was able to be accomplished by the completion date.
Mayor Tom Demody has this to say about working with HRP on this and other LaPorte projects: “Our team has had the pleasure of working with HRP on a number of different projects within the City of La Porte, and each one has proven to be a positive experience. They are communicative, engage well with our residents and are proactive in problem-solving. We’ve been pleased with both their work product and their conduct, and can see us working well together in the future.”
