Anticipated completion spring of 2025.
The problem: Separating storm sewers from sanitary sewers to reduce the amount of water treated at the wastewater treatment plant. This also reduces the frequency of “overflow” events of combined sewers into the local waterways.
The solution/work being completed: Installing new storm sewers that connect directly to storm outfalls to local waterways. Installing new sanitary sewers, rehabilitation of existing sewer mains and laterals to homes that are for sanitary purposes only. The City also took advantage of the road reconstruction by installing new watermains and water services to the homes. New sidewalks, drives, and roadways make the neighborhood more appealing to the current and future residents in the area.
What is interesting about this project: Working with residents to better improve their neighborhood is always rewarding. Not only does HRP have a sense of pride and accomplishment, but the residents also feel the same way. Their tax dollars working for them.
