The Problem: Increase the water capacity of the pumping district on the south side of Mishawaka.
The Solution/Work Performed: These projects consisted of construction of a new 2 million gallon water storage tank, booster station for the district, and site improvements. New watermain from the intersection of Ireland Road and Bremen Highway to the storage tank location on Ireland Trail. Rehabilitation of a 100-year old existing storage tank for the future. HRP installed a series of baffle walls to channel the water in the tank to increase the “freshness” of the water being sent to the residents (consumers). HRP was able to be successful on these projects because of our outside-the-box thinking and the projects were not “normal projects” that just anyone could tackle. Creative thinking and solutions that increased our profitability and decreased owner costs in the end.
What was interesting about these projects: The construction of a 2 million gallon concrete tank to store water for drinking was really interesting. Rehabilitation of a 100-year old tank that was also concrete was interesting to be part of. Not many folks can say that they have worked on a 100-year old tank, bringing the tank into the 21st century.
