Project completed in 2023
The problem: The Town of Wakarusa needed to modify their existing sanitary sewer operation in order to meet IDEM requirements. They chose to have an underground 600,000-gallon storage system built. The system would fill up with waste water during high flow events and drain out as the rest of the system could handle the additional flow.
The solution: HRP Construction installed nearly 3,000’ of 72” diameter Weholite pipe. The plastic pipe was delivered in 48’ length sticks and welded together on-site.
What was interesting about the project: This project was constructed in halves due to site limitations. A 100’ wide x 250’ long x 15’ deep excavation was made so pipe could be installed. That pipe was backfilled and then the remaining area was excavated. Some of the soil was stockpiled on top of the newly installed pipe to avoid hauling it off site and back for re-use at a later date.
